We met winemakers Peter and Rebecca Work of Ampelos Cellars at last season's Outstanding in the Field event at Coleman Farm in Santa Barbara, where they poured a variety of wines made from their biodynamic and organic grapes. We made such a great connection with our guest winemakers that when it came time for a day off the whole Outstanding crew decided to go for a visit to the winery. The wine is excellent and the vineyard is beautiful and of course the subject did come up: "How do you feel about having an Outstanding in the Field event here next year?" Dinner among the vines will be prepared by the Works' good chef-friend Clark Staub from nearby Los Alamos.
