As many New Yorkers will tell you, September is the best time to visit the Hamptons. The slew of summer tourists slows to a halt, but the weather’s still warm and the ocean still sparkles and the small-town streets start to fill with Autumn leaves. We’ll set the table at hosts Maxwell and Oliver’s secluded 18-acre property overlooking Gardiner’s Bay for a collaborative event with Quail Hail Farm, a stewardship project of Long Island’s Peconic Land Trust. This partnership dates back to the 1980s, when the Ryan Family conserved their farmland with the help of the Trust. Farmers Paul Hamilton of Fireplace and Layton Guenther of Quail Hill will provide plenty of late Summer vegetables and share their stories from the East End farming community. Founded in 1989, Quail Hill Community Farm is the oldest CSA in New York State. Our first night sees guest chef Dominic Rice of Southampton’s Calissa in the kitchen. Calissa is one of the hottest spots on the East End, applying Mediterranean traditions to the diverse offerings of Long Island’s land and sea.
*Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Quail Hill Farm, a stewardship project of the Peconic Land Trust, a private non-profit land conservation organization. Founded in 1983, the Peconic Land Trust works to conserve Long Island’s working farms, natural lands, and heritage.
