This is by far the best time to come to the Hamptons. September is the peak of produce in the South Fork – tomatoes, peppers and peaches will be in full bloom, while early Autumn begins to show its face with squash and hearty greens. This is our first visit to Fosters’ Farm, where this sixth-generation farming family is locally famed for “spuds to spirits” – potatoes and vodka. Dean will take us on a tour of the vegetable fields, the potato fields and the farm distillery. Chef Jeremy Blutstein will cruise down the coast from Montauk to prepare a seafood-heavy meal using fresh catch from the Atlantic and fresh produce from the surrounding fields and neighboring farms. After two years at Almond working with longstanding OITF friend Jason Weiner, Jeremy moved a few miles east to helm the new restaurant at Gurney’s, where the menu is all about whatever they can pull fresh from the sea.
