For our 20th anniversary we are beginning a new initiative that expands on the original spirit and intention of OITF. Our Community Table street events tell not just the story of where our food comes from, but also the story of the hands and hearts that bring beauty to the table. Just as we celebrate local farmers and chefs and their contribution to the meal, Community Table events broaden the foundational idea of OITF: Origin Stories. Where does this wonderful thing come from? Whose hands created it?
In 2019, Outstanding in the Field is organizing three special Community Table street dinners across the country featuring local makers, designers, artists and craftspeople. We will recognize creativity and community and set our table down the middle of the street to celebrate. Our first Community Table will be set on Broadway Ave. just in front of Grand Central Market in Downtown Los Angeles.
This will be a collaborative dinner, and we’re lining up several L.A. chefs to cook in the street kitchen. Tim Hollingsworth is coming out from Otium; Tim was chef de cuisine at French Laundry for many years before opening his own inspiring restaurant next to L.A.’s Broad Museum. Rounding out the crew, Mary Sue and Susan are a powerhouse team and such fun; they’ve helped change L.A.’s culinary landscape over the past two decades, and recently earned awards in appreciation from the Julia Child Foundation and the 2018 Gold Award from the LA Times.
A portion of ticket sales from this event will benefit Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
We are proud to partner with our friends at LA FOOD BOWL for this event!
