This event will truly be a work of art. The Vancouver Sculpture Biennale has commissioned a new piece by OITF founder Jim Denevan, who will transform this Vancouver tidal flat into a spectacular ephemeral art installation combining his famed sand drawings and the Outstanding in the Field table. The location is stunning: a view of English Bay, downtown skyscrapers and snow-capped mountains. The culinary artistry on display will be equally exceptional: David Hawksworth of the eponymous Hawksworth restaurant will join Stephanie Noel, Hawksworth’s development chef and Phil Scarfone, head chef of Nightingale and season 7 finalist on Top Chef Canada. Together they will craft an elegantly eclectic menu that celebrates the fresh catch of Skipper Otto, a family-owned sustainable fishery working to connect B.C. fishermen directly to consumers. Co-founder and CEO Sonia Strobel will join us at the table to celebrate and share her story. Skipper Otto was founded in 2008 to protect a traditional fishing way of life in BC’s coastal communities. They do this by paying living wages to their 30 fishing families and providing their hyper-traceable, Ocean Wise recommended seafood directly to thousands of members across Canada.
A portion of the tickets sales from this event will benefit the Vancouver Biennale. (link to https://www.vancouverbiennale.com/)
