Recipe from the field: Tres Leches Cake

Ingredients 

Cake:

6 3/4 cup cake flour, sifted
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
4 oz. soft butter, unsalted
8 oz. sugar
5 eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Milks:

14 oz. evaporated milk
12 oz. condensed milk
8 oz. cream
1 tbsp vanilla

Instructions

First, the cake.
  1. In a stand up mixer with a whisk, mix until pale the sugar and butter.

  2. Add the eggs and vanilla.  Whisk until flurry.

  3. Add the flour, salt and baking powder.  Mix until just combined.

  4. Spray a pan with spray (13 inch by 9 inch).  Add the batter to the pan.

  5. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.  (Can vary slightly by oven)

  6. Let cool completely.

Then, the milks.
  1. Mix all ingredients.

  2. Pour milk mixture onto cake and let sit for at least 2 hours.

  3. Serve with seasonal fruit and whipped cream and caramel.

If you want to do it just like Chef Brian, serve with homemade corn ice cream, dressed up like corn!
